Mooring waiting lists

There are currently 1673 people on the waiting list for a mooring in Marblehead Harbor, Massachusetts. Over the last 15 months, I have advanced 4 places. At this rate, someone at the end of the list can expect to get a mooring in... 523 years.

I don't think Marblehead is unique in this respect. What's your experience trying to get a mooring permit?

There is a two year wait for birth space both here, Dubai, and back home, Louisiana.

No wonder the demand for midwives is burgeoning... a two year wait for "birth space" plays havoc with a 9 month gestation period!

Re: Mooring waiting lists

The person who is first on the waiting list in Stonington, CT has been on it for almost 14 years.

We'll be cutting the lines in six years and three months so it's safe to say we won't have a Stonington mooring before we leave.

I know--Salem is quite a bit less popular, for some reason.

The thing to do seems to be to put the names of your yet to be born grandchildren on the list!
