Moving 15.5 ft. boat from UK to Portugal reasonable?

I live in Portugal where small boat selection is very poor. I am looking at the UK, who has a plentiful supply of sailing dinghies for sale. Is transporting a 15 1/2 (4.7m) boat Realistic?

I see the ferry from Spain to Plymouth and back is 1000+ pounds, without a boat on a trailer, if they allow one. If I have cross the channel and drive south across France and Spain I can clap on another 1000 Pounds for fuel, tolls and rooms. and suddenly a 3000 Pound boat becomes a 5000 Pound boat.

Any ideas on moving a boat by truck, trailer, ferry or other creative ideas. I am interested in anyone who might have actually done something like this.

Plymouth to Porto.
