name that boat

I am interested in hearing what people will list as their favorite names for boats. It's February first, and I have nothing better to do with my time.

We were going to call our first boat "Winter Rover", a play on winterover, the name for people who spend the long dark night in Antarctica. "Nightcap" came in second best so we kept the name when we bought her.

Name

Deep Sea Doodle ( over the blue brine ) a take off from a hockey announcer who said, he ( the hockey player ) dipsey doodled over the blue line.
Puff Daddy.
All my recent boats have started with the letter G. Idealy there should be seven letters in the name.
I have had Gonzo, GOFF, Goofey, still have Maarire / Gently and just got Grolsch. My next bigger boat will be Goshawk.
Also the name should be recognizable and easy to hear and understand over the VHF.

My wife came up with a perfect name for our boat.

"Handbasket"!

My wife has always been proud of her "sign" (not that she follows astrology...), so if we have a blue water boat in the future it will be called "Lioness."

The first boat I named was Starling. My grandmother was Starla, and she loved starlings, so it just seemed to fit. We have had a number of boats, and all of their names have been good. Our first cruising boat was Petrel, which is said to be one of the most common boat names. We liked it. The original name of that boat was Tyee, which means King Salmon in Inuit, and we considered changing the name, but could not get used to it, so we stuck with Petrel. I bought a boat Named Kai Nui from a guy named Kindness Isreal. (no kidding). I really loved that boat, so I have retained the name for my business, and soon to be for my newest boat. Our current boat is Sundari which means beautiful woman. We like that name allot, and have never seen another boat with that name. FWIW, Kai Nui means big water in Hawaian. Seems like a good name for the trimaran.

Name

Another idea is to use a name from a song that you like.
Georgia by Ray Charles would be good, and Reynosa by Amelia McBroom come to mind. Both are seven letters. Frank Zappa would be a good help, his kids are named Moon Unit and Dweezal.

Worst Name Ever.

I'll divert to the worst name I ever saw. I saw a powerboat with the name "Juggs II". What really got me was that the "G's" in the word Juggs had nipples, AND also the fact that there might have been a "Juggs #1???"

Worst name ever.

Cashflow

A friend had this great idea for a boat name, although I don't think he went ahead with it. "Cashflow" with the last few letters dissipating towards the water line. How's that for truth?

Word play can be very cool.

Back in the 1980's. Back when I was still in school. I used to play alot of this game. Called, "Dungeons & Dragons."

When I played that game. I made up the majority of the characters names that I played. And I even gotten alot of compliments from people. One compliment I'll never forget. Came from the state regional gamemaster. And they threw a party for us, in my honor.

Ok. enough of that. I'm yammering here!!
