Need Rec on Boats to Research for Cruising

Hi All,
Husband and I will semi retire in 2 to 3 years to take up the cruising life. We have owned our own 26' sailboat in the past and done several charters in different parts of the world. What we are considering doing now puts the type of boat we need in an entirely different class. With the depth of experience available on this board, perhaps we can save ourselves some research time by getting some recommendations from those with experience as to the best manufacturer(s) of boats for extended voyaging. Our thoughts at the moment are 40 to 45 ft, no more than 3 cabins, heavy solid boat that is easy to sail for 2 people and can handle some weather. Budget will be +/- $100K. Older is okay, but if it needs $40K work, then not sure its worth it? Also, we are considering joining the Fairwind Yacht Club in Marina Del Rey, but on the application it says we need a recommender. Can anyone help with this? Thanks in advance for your time.

If your cruising plans are Mexico then almost any boat that you take a fancy to will be fine.

Our cruising plans are to circumnavigate, we will start sailing from the location where we buy the boat. :-)
