Can anyone advise the latest definition of what not to bring in upon arrival , foodstuffs ? Meat and fresh plant is understood but i'm thinking about day to day condiments , bread flour ,long life milk ,etc.

Re: New Caledonia

Marmite is probably a no-no. Vegemite - obviously not. Canned kangaroo may be OK. It would seem prudent to be very careful. French websites talk about how natives take offense at the slightest hint of anything taboo, often making visits there less than idyllic. And they speak French.

As Manuel from Fawlty Towers would say, “Que?”

Re: New Caledonia

AFAIK: don't bring yourself! Only residents are allowed to enter, last that I heard of.

Re: New Caledonia

Check Covid rules first. After that, this site may be helpful:https://www.douane.gouv.fr/fiche/vou...elle-caledonie

This paragraph especially:

d'importation, d'exportation ou simplement de la détention de produits contrefaisant des marques, ce qui constitue un délit douanier qui vous expose à de lourdes sanctions, telles que la confiscation de la marchandise, une amende douanière, des poursuites judiciaires ;

The last sentence makes it look like you can bring in up to 2 kg of Vegemite per person if it's machine-packaged, but they talk about a certificate of cleanliness and healthfulness too - and no indication of how/where to get one of those. They do suggest that more information is available by calling the phone number in Noumea... Speaking French would be helpful for that.

Re: New Caledonia

There are a few butchers in Qld who will get the export quality beef and vacuum bag it for you, and label it appropriately. You have to ask around, because it's extra work for them, and they will charge you for it.

But, New Caledonia is still closed, and it is coming up on cyclone season. Quarantine restrictions are likely to still apply upon your return, and everyone's still closed, if you want to go further.
