Hello all. , this is my first post to this forum. Have just bought a 1983 catalina 27, tall rig. It is in Satellite Bch. Fla. I will be sailing her to Fort. Lauderdale where we live. She's a beautiful boat ,in which I hope to introduce my wife and kids to the joy of cruising. I am planning on a stop at vero bch/ ft . Pierce before ducking out the inlet and sailing south to FTL. Any suggestions for anch./marinas/ moorings on way south.// Thanks Leroy

Welcome to the Forum, Leroy.

There are many good anchorages in the Indian River. One you might consider is very near the Ft. Pierce inlet. It lies just south of the A1A causeway bridge that crosses the ICW to North Hutchinson Island (Shore Winds Drive), just outside the marina at the west end of the high bridge. That would put you in a good position to pop outside for your run to Lauderdale.

We sailed into the Fort Pierce inlet at 11pm at night and put down the hook at the location mentioned by Tao Jones right in front of the Harbour Towne Marina in Fort Pierce. The channels are well marked, and it's easy to find your way in at any time day or night.
