New to sailing and boat refurbishment

Hi so I’m new here and I’ve just brought a Matilda 20 that I’m restoring and that why I’m here coz I’m looking for advice and help from you all. I’ve never sailed b4 and don’t know anything😂 I’ve stripped the boat out and started loads of sanding. The boat came with all the parts needed so I was told but as I can see it’s missing the boom from the mast and the mast is 24ft so my fist question is how long boom do I need ? Or can I even buy a boom for it ? I thank u now for your help if there is any help 😂

There may be info on sailboat data, have no idea on the boat as I am unfamiliar with it.

Worst case scenario talk to a rigger they will be able to help you figure out what you need.

Sailboatdata shows this: https://sailboatdata.com/sailboat/matilda-20/ , which should help with the boom dimension. The drawing shows that it needs to end up what looks like about 4" short of the backstay.

Nice boat Jay. The drop keel is a bit unusual on a small trailer sailer. I can already see a steep learning curve ahead. A swing keel is more forgiving with navigation errors and every other nautical mishap.
I bet Facebook marketplace will have a boom advertised
Cheers

Turns out there's an owners' association. Their spec page shows that boom at 9ft.

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Jay.
According to the Matilda Owners Association, the Matilda 20 boom length is 9' 0".

Oops! I see Starbuck beat me to it.
