No Boat License Required, Trip to Other Countrys and Visa Question

If u are over 16year in Norway u can operate boat up to 8meters (around 27foot) and 25hp, without a licens, and if u are borned before 1980 u can operate even bigger boats with no licens, so lets say if i take a sailboat 27 feet and do a sail trip from Norway to uk/france/spain or other places in europe, will they require that i have a licens?

i need passport and insurance papers on the boat, other papers that i need? within europe we can travel and stay 6?month without visa.
If i cross the atlantic ocean to america do i need visa? i read that i can travel to usa and stay for 3 month without visa

Hi Proxor! Do a search on US State Dept. requirements for travel to the US. As far as I know, there is no captain license requirement to sail to the US. You'll need several documents proving boat ownership, insurance coverage and a valid passport, among others. You can look-up the US Embassy/Consulate's website in your country for further details, or just call their number. Good luck!

you need to apply for a full b1/b2 tourist visa (if arriving by yacht) in your home country for the usa,if you arrive by plane,a simple e-visa is enough with a return ticket and proof of funds.

in europe, you might get asked for an icc(international certificate of competence),but generally unless using the canals or chartering a yacht,no certificate is nessacary

I know nothing about boat ownership, and I'm a US citizen. Would I need insurance to own a boat, or is it a practical requirement because of marinas?

There is no insurance mandate for operating a recreational (non-comercial) vessel in the USA, but some marinas do require a liability policy for yur opportunity to rent their slips.
