Sea Yawl, excellent post. You did a "classic" cruising foresight which is recommended by just about everyone...which is take a short cruise and see if you can manage the transition and the lifestyle. Not everyone can take living on a boat - especially couples.

You're lucky you have assets to salvage. Some people keep a small bit of land or a cottage for a while in case they change out. But sounds like you are doing the right thing right now which is take each day at a time.

Some people hop - meaning they will sail for a while, leave the boat, work, then sail a bit more. Perhaps you might be able to set something up like that.
