We also stopped at Tropea. 70 e a night in well organised but tight squeeze. nice town albeit a steep walk up to old town. Some ok beaches (good for Italy, anyway) near marina

Ponza had some ok but swelly anchorages on E coast. Lots of small willy types hammering around in very large power boats creating large wakes, the sea was dead - not a single fish or sign of any marine life. The sea very clear, so you can see the litter on the seabed 8m down.

We're just back from the Aeolian Islands. September was great as things were getting quieter.

Lipari and Vulcano offer the best anchorages. Only go to Stromboli when you know the weather will be kind overnight.

Scilla near the Messina Straights was a pleasant surprise, although I could see you may not get a decent anchorage in high season.

Capo di Vaticano great for a lunch stop.

Beware the harbour in Tropea when the cafe gets converted to a night club. Only a few metres from the boats.The boats shook to the base until 4 am. I'd rather have been rocking on an anchor somewhere/anywhere else
