Now, two or three seal bombs tossed overboard wouldn't need to strike the whale for their concussions to have an effect.
That’s how Sea World did it when they rounded them up.

I don't think we have actually thought about a potential conflict between sea mammals and humans.

Land animals, like bears, we trap them and relocate them, or kill them. Have we thought about the same issue with sea mammals? Mostly we just protect them. But one can imagine a point where it gets out of hand.

Some of you think it is a joke, or hope the Orcas just grow up and stop. And animal rights folks say, 'its their ocean, we people should just give up using boats". Neither answer seems reasonable to me.

They are wild animals in their natural habitat. The best thing is to do exactly what the Spanish are doing for the second time. Exclude the risk group from the area temporarily.

No one gets hurt.

You are serious, and that makes me very sad, as it seems you're pretty much beyond help.
Someone blesses your soul, please.

Fish stocks world wide are down over 80%.

Whales were harvested to the brink if extinction.

We have used the ocean, their home as a dump.

There are over 7 billion humans and what, a few thousand orcas.

You want everything until you have nothing.

All I want is the orcas to be culled for attacking the boats.

Terrible attitude.

Luckily your not in charge off the coast of Spain

No beautiful endangered animals killed , a few yottie types inconvenienced in a minor way.

Sounds bout right to me.

Having been in the company of Orcas close up, methinks if they were attacking boats there'd be a lot more damage than a few nibbled rudders believe me.
And they did not nibble my rudder nor rock my boat.

Re: Orcas have destroyed our rudder

I live in a weird country where there are more things to kill you than almost anywhere on Earth. Also most killers are protected. Shark attack engenders support for the shark.Majority of victims do not blame the shark and do not seek to destroy them! (If they survive)--Humans do not bleed to death from a rudder bite.We are not very keen on crocodiles though.

Re: Orcas have destroyed our rudder

I am ready to for a little BBQ Orca...with so much world hunger Orcas are a great source of protein and it will solve all the boating issues when we decrease their population.

People need to get a life here and need to stop watching "free willy" movies and lighten up.... the save the world people are downers with no sense of humor. Sushi Orca anyone?

Or you can just … not sail in that patch of water? There’s quite a lot of it, go somewhere else.

As for harpooning them , this would be illegal as they are protected under Spanish law. So put your moby dick book away there's a good chap
More boats get damaged by other boat, or debris in the ocean created by Humans
So as I say who cares , it happens a bus night hit you tomorrow
I have a master's in orca behaviours so feel I can speak with a sense of reality
OK, so you should know how to communicate with them. We know they are smart so we just need a way to tell them to leave our boat alone. Maybe some Orca sound equivalent of "Ouch!". Or a pack leader growl sound.
