Outhaul car friction on furled main in boom

While unfurling the main (it has been a long time) the outhaul car does not move backwards on the track. What can be done to decrease the friction and permit the car to travel. There appears to be too much upward pull of the car. Admittedly the main is not rolled tight and it is jamming on the way out.

I'm assuming that if the jamming is eliminated, then there would be less upward torque.

Make sure the main sheet and the boom vang are loose - that is, not pulling down too hard on the boom.

Try standing at the mast and working the sail out. Especially, pulling down on it can help flatten it and reduce jamming in the mast.
