Pactor IIUSB Firmware upgrade problems

Hello,

i am looking for some help with my Pactor IIUSB modem.

In short , it required a Firmware upgrade so i used the SCS upgrade tool , it connected to the modem ok , found the com port , got all the details , then pickd the upgrade file fom the net and started the upgrade but failed to successfully do it. Now the red LED's on the bottom light up every second one and i researched it means the modem is waiting for the upgrade file but when i try to run the Upgrade utility , it now fails and says , caan not connect to modem , check Com port. Device Manager shows the modem on Com3 , working properly.

Can anyone suggest what i could try to get a connection again and how i could get the new Firmware to install.

Appreeciate any assistance.

try to reboot the modem .. disconnect all battery power then reconnect. you may have tried that already.

Had a similar problem..This is a conversation and recommendation from SCS..

“ with the old units there is generally a problem with
drying out capacitors, this causes any strange kind of
failures. What you should do first, is to add a 470uF/25V cap
to the board as a fix for that. Most probably the unit is
stable again afterwards.

After this, locate the "BIOS" jumper close to the middle of the board.
Connect the pins together while the modem is powering on.
The modem should start in BIOS mode from where it should be recoverable.

Then do a firmware installation/update:
Please use SCSupdate and let it search online for the correct and
newest firmware for your modem:

http://www.p4dragon.com/download/SCSupdate.exe


The modem should be connected to the computer and the switched on.
The computer shall have access to the Internet during the process.
Start SCSupdate and let it do its job. Follow the instructions of
the program, it will guide you through the process.

Then give the modem another power cycle without the jumper pins connected.
After a while of "lightshow" it should start up correctly.

If not, then there is a hardware issue and you may need repair.
If so, follow the instructions given here:”

I just did a hard bios reset without the cap replacement and it works fine
