Philadelphia “liveaboard”

My wife and I are contemplating purchasing a boat to live on—JUST DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS—near Philadelphia. We have an ailing father who we would like to spend some time with before he “sails on”. He lives in a community about 15 miles southwest of downtown.

So. Does anyone have any advice about living full time (summers only) on a boat in that area? 40’-45’-ish sailboat would be the plan.

We are based in Seattle, where it has become increasingly more difficult to live on board. But we don’t know if the same applies to the east coast.

Thank you for your time.

Thanks.

I can’t seem to get behind the paywall to read that, but I am pretty sure I read it about a year ago, and I am pretty sure it said that boat length in that marina was limited. Like 30’? We would need quite a bit bigger.

Re: Philadelphia “liveaboard”

I looked at the Pier 3 website and their limit is 35'.

Anchorage Marina in Essington (S. of Philly) used to allow liveaboards, but is far away from everything and near the end of the Phila. International Airport runway.

Re: Philadelphia “liveaboard”

35’ slip too small.

Essington “used to” allow live aboards…..do they still?

Re: Philadelphia “liveaboard”

You would need to check with them. Before. if you were on the down low they didn't say anything. Been a while and not certain if the management has changed.
