Plumbers putty and Vacuflush

Does anyone have experience using plumber's putty to stop a small leak in a Vacuflush system? The manual doesn't recommend its use, but it doesn't proscribe it either. It seems this would create a cleanup problem the next time maintenance is done on the head (e.g. change of seals). If advisable, would this be to seal the two halves of the head, or would it be applied as a type of caulk? The status now is a leak of about a tablespoon a day on a system that has had new rotating flush ball, spring attached to the ball, seals, and c-clamps installed.

Re: Plumbers putty and Vacuflush

I don't know which model vacuflush toilet you have but if it's like mine I wouldn't try to seal it with plumbers putty or anything. Assuming you're talking about leakage around the 2 big rubber bowl seals: get the seals very clean and dry (or replace); get the flush ball clean; get the 2 faces of the bowl really clean; make sure you've got the rubber seals the correct way up and the thin seal is on the bottom; align the notches if it has them; make sure the half clamps are interlocked at the front; tighten up the big clamp. Good luck
