For how I use the boat, I don't think I'll ever go back to a fixed chart plotter at the helm. Regarding theft, It's covered by the binnacle cover and my Garmin is easy to remove if I get worried.
Donny… I have the same pod on my boat, actually 2 of them. Do you have any idea where to get that plexiglass or tinted acrylic bezel you mount to?
