portable motion sensor?

Can anybody recommend a portable motion sensor to use for security aboard a chartered boat?

Re: portable motion sensor?

We had one, a battery operated one, that we got from Dick Smith when they were still useful. Downside was that it would alarm when the wind came over the stern and the flag blew into the cockpit.

You could try something like this: https://www.jaycar.com.au/motion-act...ntrol/p/LA5217 If you don't get much input here from actual users, googling on battery activated motion sensor/alarm brought many answers.

Re: portable motion sensor?

At home, I use products made by a company called reolink. They're motion activated security cameras and they have a number of models in the range. All the exterior models have USB charging and onboard lithium batteries. I purchased mine with the optional solar panel and the oldest ones have worked flawlessly for the last few years. They're wifi with optional SIM card and can be configured to activate a siren (which, tbh, isn't that loud but it does have a startle factor, I guess) and/or LED spot light when motion is detected. They will record to an SD card or to cloud storage and can notify an app on your phone the instance something has been detected.

They're relatively cheap, and would certainly work in the interior of a boat and I'd be confident they could be mounted outside with a little dab of silicon grease here and there to protect the electrical sockets.
