Easy.
If you are willing to bring whole beans and a grinder (could be a manual grinder) with you, then why are you even talking about Nespresso pods? The only advantage of pods is convenience, it certainly isn't better coffee. Once you move beyond the convenience of the prepackaged pods, why try to use the Nespresso system? A press pot, a Melitta cone, or a Clever dripper will take the fresh grounds and produce a better cup of coffee without fiddling around with filling and washing refillable pods.

Absolutely agree. I only use my pod machine when under way. I sail solo, so convenience and speed are the aim when moving. Otherwise, at anchor, I'd fire up the the stove-top espresso machine, which I prefer.

I really like the pods for a quick cup, my thinking is those reuseable pods could be filled from the grinder before I set sail, and stored in a zip-lock bag in the fridge. In that way they'd be moderately fresh, and more than adequate for a watch-keeping coffee under way.

That's a thing of beauty. Certainly prettier than my grinder which is more of a utilitarian thing.

Add cinnamon to the cycle please, and report back. You may yet create the ultimate coffee.

adding a bit of cinnamon to the basket of my perk pot or my drip makes the coffee taste Christmassy. ( a bit like Christmas)
takes the bitter out as well .

You see, this is the problem with living down-under. Christmas is at the wrong time of year.

A nice hot beverage is the LAST thing and Aussie wants on Christmas day when it's 40 degrees Celcius outside, the aircon is trying to keep 25 cranky relatives cool and a drop-bear has claimed the pool for its own.

I do it every year, and the best bit is, I don't have to invite the relatives.

We had single digit temps last Xmas eve and needed the fire stoked up. Snow falling at sea level in Hobart a decade or so back just before New Year - I suppose that is why Tassie is routinely left off the Aussie maps

Too cold in July for beer and prawns....

That might be what you are used to for coffee, but that is nowhere NEAR what espresso should be, by a wide wide margin.

THIS, is coffee.
