Raymarine Wheel Pilot conversion

Does anyone have any info or experience in converting the Raymarine Wheel Pilot to a below deck linear (electric or hydraulic) actuator?

My wheel Pilot drive is playing up and I would like to consider this as an option.

I had problems with the planetary gearboxes Raymarine used in their wheel pilots so started to build my own designs. I found the head would drive a fairly broad selection of motors even a 24V job which had been originally designed for an electric bike drive.

The limiting factor is probably the current limits of the H bridge drive MOSFETs.
