Talk to Terry Gale from Ausure Insurance Brokers.

He negotiated with Nautilus Marine Insurance for me, but he may have something different for you.

Thanks for the lead. I am in Langkawi at present so I'll drop him a line. I enquired with quite a few firms on Friday. Not getting much back in the way of responses, including Pants who I inspired with

I was with Trident, They gave Aussies residents 200 Nmiles off shore but wont insure Blue water crossings, From Fiji to Australia,

200 Nmiles off shore is Blue water, I thought it a bit strange, But they call the shots,

If one of you has Brit background and an immigrant to Australia, (still have UK passport) along with an address in the UK.. might be worth re-registering. It's not like your going home soon..

Have been very happy with Topsail Insurance, have just had a claim settled for damage (about $5000) pleasant to deal with, approval and money paid quickly,
reasonable premium.
Hopefully the premium wont go up too much next year.

Hi Christian
Thanks for the suggestion.
I am no longer searching, but your info may help others.

I went with Topsail a couple of weeks ago:

I am with Pantaenius ATM, but got a quote from Topsail and they are cheaper.

As soon as I get through reading the fine print, I might just switch to Topsail as I was with P. AU also with my previous boat and was not happy with them.
Now they say that the customer service has changed, but I don't like the policy wording, especially that no anchoring bit.

Absolutely no single handing between sunset and dawn except in “enclosed water” (which is defined as inland waters) is restrictive too in the Pantaenius Australia policy. If I was late getting back from a walk and it was twilight and my husband needed to reanchor, the policy would be voided.

We had zero restrictions with single handing under Pantaenius Germany.

Topsail at least give us 24 hours.

As mentioned I got single-handing covered with P OZ but with a higher excess than with crew.

That is interesting, as the Germany Pants, it the same company as the UK one. A (German) friend and I have both had quotes from Pants in UK/Germany respectively. Neither allow singlehanding for more than 18 hours.

I don't think any Lloyds insurer does (allow it for any decent period of time), at least not any I've come across.

Makes you wonder, how people in solo races around the world, or even around the Med, get insurance.
