Replacement manual black water pump

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement to this? We just moved aboard and the part at the top (right behind the handle) was cracked and broke off as soon as I touched it. I found a couple similar on Amazon but it makes me nervous to buy one for $19.99 when most of them seem to be $100+. I'd rather not be dealing with another broken on in 6 months.

If your talking about the diaphragm pump, you’ll want to make sure the one you grab has a nitrile diaphragm instead of neoprene…..that is if smell matters to you.

Whale makes lots of pumps that look like what you’ve got.

Thanks for the advice. I did see that pump but I don't think it will fit where the old one is while still being able to use the handle

Can I use a manual bilge pump to pump a black water tank?

Re: Replacement manual black water pump

Yes, of course.

I use one pump to pump into the tank and the same pump to empty the tank.

It is a Lavac head using a Henderson manual bilge pump. Using 2 Y valves I then empty the tank overboard, when off shore.

Yes. As mentioned above be sure it has a nitrile bellows not a neoprene one.

The one pictured by the OP, has a neoprene diaphragm.

The one I have used for 30+ years for this purpose also has a neoprene diaphragm (I replaced the diaphragm recently, after 30+ years). I have had no waste smell issues except through the vent.

The one in the photo is a Whale Urchin. It is available with nitrile parts. You might have to get your local chandler to special order it for you.

Re: Replacement manual black water pump

That pump ^ has been around for ages.
They started as something else, then became Henderson.
Now sold by Whale, who has been nought out by someone else yet again.

If you buy a Lavac toilet this is what you get.

I have a number for various purposes. Some are from the 1980’s.
