sail maintenance

When we had our 22' O'day, we periodically sent our sails to "sailcare" (who were GREAT, btw) for cleaning, repair and rersining.

We only had our o'day for 6 years, and stored our sails over the winter, so, really not comparable to our current boat which will be exposed to the environment year 'round.

My question is, has anyone used this kind of service regularly, and has it significantly prolonged the life of their sails, and has it saved you money in the long term? Just wondering if it is worth it for this type of usage.

Re: sail maintenance

Used the service to get a couple more years out of an old set of sails several years ago. New “crispy” sails are the real solution long term.
