Sail trim without a traveller on Oceanis 41

My wife and I are chartering an Oceanis 41 in St. Martin's later this summer. All the sailboats I have sailed previously (Islander 36, Beneteau 42, Jeanneau 41, Leopard 444) have had main traveller/car systems which judging by the photos the Oceanis doesn't. How will this particular set up affect sail trim, particularly when reaching? Any tips on handling this type of rig?

Instead of mainsheet and traveller position to control boom height, you use mainsheet and boom vang.

Re: Sail trim without a traveller on Oceanis 41

Thanks StuM for your prompt reply. While I am not new to the marine community, I am a novice sailor as I'm sure you guessed. I had previously thought that the boom vang once set was used to make minor adjustments as necessary following major tensioning via the traveller. It will be educational to use the vang alone in conjunction with the mainsheet. Looking forward to it. Thanks again.
