Sailing from NZ to Australia

Hi All, I am new to this forum but have read some interesting comments on it so decided to join. I am seeking info on bringing a sailing cat 46' from NZ to Bris and wish to know how long should it take, and what time is the best to travel. Also if need be where could I hire a good skipper and at what cost? More questions will follow I'm sure.
Thanks for your help
Arjay.

Hey Arjay welcome to the forum.
Lots of folks here to help out with your questions.
I've moved your post to the "General Sailing Forum" for your convenience.
The Tech forum is primarily for questions around technical aspects of the working of the site.
Good luck.

Depends on how you do it. As in which direction, but roughly speaking 2 weeks.

If you PM me I can give you the contact details for a friend of mine who does delivery work, she is a lady who has single handed her own tri all over the place.

I would be heading from Whangerai New Zealand to Brisbane with a crew of 3 experience coastal sailors. Not sure of when but could be in a couple of months or I could leave it until it is weather right

Summer best. Upwind destination = 3 times normal rate (normal rate being often 1 USD or 1 EUR per mile). The boat must be great shape.

Alternative route via Noumea. Easy except the first 500 Nm or so. But WAY longer. Probably the way to go if the boat cannot take extreme weather.

Hi

I've done that trip numerous times plus about 20,000 miles delivering cats. My email is editor@crew.org.nz, if you want to get in touch I can help answer all those questions, maybe even take on the trip for you if it works out.
I'd like to know a bit more about the boat as well.
Cheers
David

Hi David and thanks for the reply. I am considering purchasing a 46' cat with good cruising equipt and electronics. The boat is about 5ys old and has a good rig and sails. I am still negotiating on the deal and it may not even come about but I wanted to have some preparedness should I be successful and need to bring the boat back to Oz. I would like to know the cost of a skipper should that arise with myself and possibly 2 friends acting as crew. We have all had boats before and experience sailing the coast of OZ

I suppose I should add a total of about 150,000 offshore miles
