Sailing in Orillia, Ontario

Hi
I am from the states but will be in Orillia, Ontario from Thursday july8 (afternoon )through early Monday July 12th.
Love sailing though have not done on my own for years Wondered if anyone knows of a place I could go to sail on one of those days(obviously with someone else doing the sailing -willing and like to learn how again Will be working the evenings Friday through Sunday at Mariposa Folk Festival so would have to be on Thursday later or early Friday through Sunday Thanks

Sorry, I don't know of any places in Orillia itself. I've got a boat in Penetanguishene, but that's almost an hour away. I'm probably sailing again Saturday, about 9 am to 2 or 4 in the afternoon.

You can rent boats in Toronto, but I imagine they will require some kind of proof of competency now the the PCOC (Pleasure Craft Operator's Card) is required in Canada.

Hi Linda

Orillia's on Lake Couchiching which runs into Lake Simcoe. If you're looking for dinghy rental, you might have some luck in Orillia at the town marina or further south in Barrie. If you're looking for a bigger boat experience, you'd best head into Midland or Penetanguishene on Georgian bay and check with the marinas there.

Nope, you understood right, you're more than welcome to come along. Saturday or Sunday- more wind on Saturday, but a better direction on Sunday (the last two times I've come in with the wind behind me have been a bit of a Chinese fire drill).
