Sailing Routes from Japan to US

Hi All,

Has anyone here sailed from Japan to Hawaii or other US ports in the last 10 years or so. I'm Looking for the best summer route from Tokyo Bay across. Any help or information would be great.

Thanks and Aloha,

Tim

Tim,
I think you need to pay attention to wind direction for whatever season you are going. A june sailing from Japan to Hawai'i would put the wind right on your nose. Perhaps go to the Philippines, and then across to Hawai'i. BTW, I'll be sailing from Japan to Manila in June.

Aloha Tim,
The trip from Japan to Hawaii is best done with a big loop up North. Tommy said it best. Wind will be on your nose and you'll go very slow. Pacific Voyager (on this forum) did a Saipan to Hawaii trip a couple years ago for delivery of a big Hans Christian and it took him forever to slog through.

Tim, I've sailed Japan to US via Kodiak. Take a look at sailing north out of Japan and stay just below the chain to Kodiak, then Prince Wm Sound - Juneau - Petersburg - Ketchikan - Prince Rubert - Friday Harbor and your home.
