Sailing School Needed

All, first, if there is a better forum, let me know.

I live in the Midwest and am looking for the following in a sailing school:

1) Must be ASA. First, I have started here with 101 but also am not a racer and have no interest. 100% want to focus on cruising
2) looking for a school that teaches on the ocean. I am not interested in learning on a lake since the ocean is where I ultimately plan on my final location
3) looking for a high quality school that will teach me the best from the best. Maryland school of sailing looks interesting here.
4) Must have a comprehensive program I.E. teach through ASA 106 advanced coastal Cruising

Here is what I have run into so far. As I talk to schools, they seem interested in meeting the minimums for example overnight stay in boat in dock rather than at sea. When I find a school that seems to teach better (judging by youtube videos) They do not answer the phone. This gives me the impression of "All hat, no cattle"

Re: Sailing School Needed

I’d do a 9 day RYA course which combines theory and practical
to the level of Day Skipper. You will also get ICC.
Gonna cost a lot less than the equivalent ASA steps even after figuring
in a flight to wherever.
Cheers
Neil

Beyond the ASA website, check out J/World and also Steve Collgate's Offshore Sailing School for other venues.
