Security in Trinidad

Yet another yacht storage season is starting here in Trinidad.

Despite warning of 'Lock It or Loose It' and lift you dinghies at night ...... we are still getting dinghy thefts on a regular basis.

I think the dinghies are getting cut up after the engines are removed for 'recycling'. i.e. this is probably a 'professional' criminal rather than a yachty wanting a new dink.

One dinghy with a 30 hp motor 'went missing' last night. Yet again the dinghy was left in the water over night.

Not only does leaving dinghies in the water at night put the owner at risk of loosing it ...... it also attracts other criminals here for the easy pickings.

Last year we had a number of robberies ..... some with firearms ... some involving machete's.

Please, please be sensible about your security when you come down here ... It really was hassardous last year!!!

Cheers

Just incase anyone sees this rib ..... it's quite distinctive:

It's a 6-8 person BLUE Narwal ..... and it had a 30HP engine.

There is a large reward out for information that results in it's recovery.

I hope to have better info. later

Trinidad citizen was connected JFK Airport plot to blow up fuel tanks. It seems that any farther south than St Lucia and the trouble seems to increase.
