Selden GX top down asym furler

I am looking for any first hand experience with this unit regarding purchase, installation, use and maintenance.

Thanks

I am well pleased with the Harken that I installed. Single handing is not near the chore it used to be.

Eric, can you please provide more details? Model, self or rigger installed, maintenance, ease of use?

It is a Mark IV sized for boat size. It works smoothly and was simple to install.

Eric, are you sure that is a Harken you are using? I checked their website and called them and they said they do not yet offer a top down furler.

My apologies. I have not seen a spinnaker furler in operation.

Another duh moment.

Re: Selden GX top down asym furler

I installed a selden GX 10 on a Seaward 32. The tack shackle at the bottom of the furler attached to the anchor sprit taking the tack of the spinnaker forward about two feet in front of the headstay. The sheave box for the halyard is 13"above the headstay. the result is that the furled gennaker, about 600 sq Ft., is parallel to the headstay and the furled genoa.

Re: Selden GX top down asym furler

You sent you shame memo to the wrong person. If you read more carefully, you will see that thehave not seen apology phrase was sent by Cap Erik 3, not me. I have used the Karver personally on my J 130 at least a dozen times. I installed the unit also on a seaward 32 and have demonstrated the use of the top down system to my buddy, Ben who owns the boat.

I would suggest the ethical thing for you to do is to retract your pejorative remarks, since they are not only mean spirited and inappropriate for this forum but grossly incorrect.

Look at my post. I quoted the guy who said he saw one and then admitted he didn't It had nothing to do with your post. Just because you get it by email, does not mean it is directed to you. But on second reading, maybe it was an honest mistake by the person responding, so it may have been an overreaction after all.
