Selection of navigation equipment for long journeys

I am planning a long trip on my yacht and I am considering options for navigation equipment. What GPS systems and mapping programs would you recommend for ocean sailing? I will be grateful for any advice and personal experience.

Personal suggestion is you go to a large boat show and look at the different systems. You can spend 3k$ to 30k$. Getting familiar with specific system operation after installation takes some time so deciding on what is comfortable for you before investing is time well spent.
