Shipping Boat to Med

My wife and I will be retiring next year and want to move the boat to the Med. We have done the Caribbean 1500 and return and lived aboard, but frankly would rather ship the boat, rather than sail her across.

However, I have been shocked by the prices I have been quoted: $18K to $28K for a Beneteau 423. I was hoping to do this for around $10K - give or take. I have read several times that folks can get it done for around this, but I have had no luck. Does anyone have any advice on where to go or a strategy for finding cheaper shipping?
