Silent jacklines?

We have jacklines on deck on our catamaran (Lavezzi 40) for attaching safety lines to. Type of jacklines are standard webbing bands sold as jacklines.
The problem is that the jacklines start to vibrate in the wind and they make a very annoying noise.
Maybe the problem is bigger on a catamaran because of the trampoline where the wind can come under the jackline. We have extra eye bolts at the aft end of the net but that only helps a little. Anyone having a solution? Maybe it’s a good idea to change to wire?

The standard practice is twist them. Stops the buzzing and keeps them from sticking to the deck.

Re: Silent jacklines?

We had the same harmonic resonance one year after first launching our Catalina 27, the standing rigging would start to "sing". It drove us nuts when it happened, the entire rig would resonate...we changed the tension on the shrouds and that took care of it. Twisting the jacklines would accomplish the same thing I would imagine. Think of it as a guitar string, once you change the tension you alter the wavelength of the pitch, even loosening to the point where it wont play. Fiddle with it, and I think you'll be able to get rid of it.

The webbing straps which run from the front of our Bimini to the toe rail also give off a harmonic buzz in certain wind strengths. One 360 degree twist in the strap solves the problem.
