SiOnyx Aurora Pro vs FLIR Ocean Scout 640

Considering buying a night vision or a thermal camera for night passages and checking around at dark and quiet anchorages. Now I have read a bit and I am aware these are different technologies, one needs some light the other is thermal. Price difference is also significant (Ocean Scout at 2x the price of Aurora Pro) but let's ignore it for this discussion.

Wondering if anyone has comparative practical experiences with either or both?

Re: SiOnyx Aurora Pro vs FLIR Ocean Scout 640

SiOnyx experence, moving at approx 5-6 kts with lights on shore, positioned at the mast ( with life harness) , provided approx 30-45 seconds detection of a crab pot on channel approach, this was enough time to alert the helmsperson to go port or starboard 10-20 degrees. Performing this for approx 30 minutes was tense coordination with with helmsperson however worked well.

Note: I was fresh comming on watch vs end of watch I would have had concerns if it was end of a watch shift. For this delivery it was worth it.

Thank you. Were the crab pots visible to the naked eye? Which SiOnyx model was that?
