Solo Atlantic Xing

I find no WWW info on the number of single handed Atlantic crossings. My guess is about 50/year for the past 60 years or around 3000. Does a CFer have a better one?

I don't think it would even be possible to accurately gather such a number. I'm quite sure that a whole lot of people just go out and do it, without notifying anyone, or posting anything about it on the web. There most definitely is not any official agency that keeps track of such crossings.


Sorry, but I think a "wild-ass guess" is about the best that you are going to be able to come up with.

Well I can only speak for W to E solo..
2005 there were 5 of us in Horta, in 2007 there were just 3 of us..
However not all stop in Horta, some cruisers (crewed and solo) choose Flores and continue N from there, others chose Ponta Delgada if heading for the Med.
I personally know of some who do the solo circuit EW WE every year.
