Some footage taken aboard Taleisin

For those who may be interested, I've created a rough cut of some footage aboard Taleisin from the day we formally took possession of her. We're new to sailing and this was our first trip by ourselves. Unfortunately I ran out of battery on the go-pro and we missed the real exciting times with the 35 knots of wind and 2 meter seas.

She sailed like a dream and delivered her new crew safely to the marina after 30 nautical miles.

Currently we're right in the middle of winter, but the next day that might be favourable for sailing I'll capture some more footage! Lots of challenges aboard Taleisin, but that's all part of the fun!

Congratulations on getting Talesin, and keep the videos coming!

Thank you! We're very privileged to own her, not sure you can truly own a vessel like Taleisin, we'll just take care of her and make sure she stretches her legs regularly!

We'll capture some more footage as soon as we get a break in the weather over the weekends. It would seem that the nice days are always during the week.

I wondered who might buy that boat. New to sailing is not what I would have imagined but it does make some sense. How you gonna miss an engine if you never had one?

Life is full of surprises! We are very fortunate, the sailing community is very friendly and people have been very kind in helping us along the way. There's much to be learnt and many challenges ahead, I doubt we'll be bored for some time to come!

Looks good! I don't think I'll be brave enough to post something like that till I look like I know what I am doing!

Based on personal experience, people won't think less of you if you admit you don't know something, but if you claim to know everything it's a difference story...

Everybody has to start at some point. I'm quite happy to admit when I don't know how to do something, there's always a willing teacher somewhere! I have been very fortunate so far, many friendly helpful people have been around so far!

The learning curve is insanely steep, Taleisin is not to be mastered over night, I recognise that challenge, I accept it, and I'm determined to rise to it! Sure I'll look like an idiot along the way and I'm sure I'll make countless mistakes. That's life! The most important thing is that we have fun while doing this!

I doubt many people will fault me for attempting a challenge! I've had some of my most rewarding experiences in life from challenges other's would not take on. I am very stubborn and for some reason I always find the hardest way possible to do something, which generally teaches me a LOT more than I would have learnt otherwise.

Will we be successful? Only time will tell, but we're going to have fun along the way regardless! Who knows we might even produce an entertaining youtube clip...

Congratulations to Eben and Annie on taking ownership of such a beautiful boat.

Lin Pardey writes about the bittersweet experience of turning Taleisin over to her new owners in her monthly newsletter. This is her photo of Taleisin sailing away.

I was saddened to learn that Larry suffers from Parkinson's disease.

Thank you Hud!

I doubt we'll ever truly own Taleisin, but we're thrilled to have the honour of looking after her and sailing her!
