Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

I have heard that hanging a dead chicken off the bow often will keep people away. Get a rubber one, they smell better

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

Couple I knew used to hang up weather cloths off the life lines saying "nap time". Worked quite well.

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

Get rid of the nice teak boat, and get a boring ugly plastic one, and they will leave you alone.

What color of flag says: " You can come in at your own risk- should be OK now that I am on high dose antibiotics." Or "Only a few open sores"
For that matter, just a recording of a hacking dry cough aught to do it...

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

How about hanging a string of washing across your cockpit with horrible, stained underpants? That would certainly stop me from a-knockin'.

That's what I do. I'm the nicest, most sociable bloke in the world, and in 5 years I've only had one visitor. And he was glad to leave a few hours later...
THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT - WHEN IM ANCHORED OUT!
I dont have much trouble at the marina - everyone knows me now and theyre all just fine. They walk by the boat and say,"How goes the project?" (they all think that because its a wood boat there HAS TO BE A PROJECT SOMEWHERE!)
Im 1 of 2 wooden sailboats here and the other is an old Newport 40 on it's last breath.
My buddy has an old wooden launch about 35' that was built in 1898 and is still in good shape so there's one boat older than mine here.
Boracay, if you've only had one visitor in 5 years, there must be some reason?
Maybe they dont like your boat or are you shipwrecked on a tropical island somewhere??

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

i used to get a bunch of visitors when i bbq foods--- making all kinds of "whats for dinner" comments-- all were sailing thru in snotty yotty boats, faster than the regulation speed posted, and i got tired of that-- also were kayakers astern sniffing my foods and commenting--lol----i burned hair-- they left.
i turned on a briggs and stratton genny-- they ran.....they didnt mind the honda so much-- that one only emitted exhaust, no noise.

How about an actual hungry dog? I doubt anyone would get close enough to my boat to knock on it. Not once Bruno here see's them approaching and gives them his patented warning bark...

Re: Sometimes I Want to Be Alone !

Be careful what you wish for. One day you might well want company and thats when you find out.

I once used to ask someone 'Do you love me'?
He would reply, 'I f**k you, dont I'?

I eventually stopped asking and by the time he noticed, it was all too late

Wow.. that's about as cold a comment as could be made. The kick to the curb would have been immediately.
