Staysail boom/reef rigging question for CaboRico38PH

I tried to practice setting the reef in my staysail &

1.the outhaul track/clew is ‘out’ as far as it will go

2. The reef cringle just doesn’t reach (?)

Is your staysail large enough to justify reefing? Ours was swapped out for a furler, but it is such a small sail I just furl the jib and reef the main to control sail power. Finally at about 45 kts on a double reef main I'll furl the staysail.

precautionary exploration!

I’m interested in being able to reef the staysail.
Also: the rig is set up with a reef (reef cringle, clew lines for reef…) so it should be “reef-able.”

Re: Staysail boom/reef rigging question for CaboRico38PH

when I posted on the CR facebook site, all I got in reply was basic (101) advice on how one should be able to reef - not even specific to a staysail on a boom OR a Cabo Rico).
