Storing boat in north Bahamas

Thinking of buying a boat in central Florida and cruising the Bahamas for a spell.

We would be doing this part-time.

How about storing the boat, on the hard, during the times we are not there. Is this costly? Safe? Anything else to worry about (besides hurricanes)?

I was thru Marsh Harbor years ago, but thought I read it had been wiped out by a storm. They had on-the-hard boat storage there. Other areas?

Thanks to those who have commented so far. Any idea of costs? Boat is 35’ long by 15’ wide.

Re: Storing boat in north Bahamas

I have no idea, but a random guess would suggest much the same as marina slip prices in Florida, with maybe a 15% surcharge.
Expect blocking up fees as well as travel lift time.

For a 35' boat, you could be looking at $800-1,000 per month.

Then there is the issue of insurance, something you'd have to contact your insurance broker about.

Presumably, the boat will require a coat of bottom paint again before being splashed, so add that to the bill.

Having said all that, the Florida east coast is about a two day sail from the Abaco's, giving you some other options.
