Tangled Flaghoist

My flag hoist has become tangled and knotted and the flag at the end of the spreader is in tatters. And ideas how to remove it?

You mean your flag halyard is twisted?

I’d first try to untwist the mess from the deck. If that doesn’t work head up the mast in a bosuns chair and swing out to the mess. Cut and replace if it’s bad enough.

The flag halyard is about five feet out at the end of the spreader. It is all twisted up and I can't straighted from the deck.
