Tasmania Cruising Guide

Anyone have any good recommendations for a Tassie Cruising Guide book?

Re: Tasmania Cruising Guide

I have this one. It was recommended to me, I can't remember by whom.

Since I have not yet actually MADE it to Tassie, I cannot tell you if it is any good, but it seems ok.

If I run into a bunch of rocks, it might not be so OK.

Fingers crossed.

Have a look at the Cruising Yacht Club of Tasmania web site. www.cyct.org.au.
Also the Royal yacht club of Tas publishes a good guide.

And, of course, MAST, though I am sure you've done that already.

Re: Tasmania Cruising Guide

I have been using the Tasmanian Anchorage Guide for research. Is great for anchorage info and the latest version is Feb 20 so very up to date. Unfortunately it lacks other information like weather, route planning, etc.

This page gave the best summary of Tasmania weather I could find.

Jack and Jude know the area pretty well? (Haven't used as I haven't been yet.)

Re: Tasmania Cruising Guide

+1 for the RYCT guide. There is also the Brettingham-Moore book, which is fairly old but might still be available. Not sure how up-to-date it is for harbour leads etc, but I found it good for the rest. There's Also the Cruising Yacht Club of Victoria's excellent Victorian Cruising Guide, which covers the north coast and the Bass Strait Islands extremely well. I found some of the Jack and Jude stuff a bit short on detail compared with the books.

Cheers, Graeme
