The number of the beast is 677

There is a new 24 hour solo record: 677 miles in 24 hours. I continue to be amazed by what these guys are achieving. New one was set by Armel Le Cleac’h on Banque Populaire VII

That's very impressive... and very scary! While I don't worry too much about solo sailors in "normal" yachts which cruise at 4 to 8 knots, or even those that sometimes achieve 10 or so... imagine a collision with a giant multihull which is AVERAGING around 28 knots.

And even these French super sailors must sleep sometimes.

None the less, an astonishing record!
