The struggle of getting liability-only insurance

I'm hauling out and the marina requires liability insurance, but I've been having a hell of a time trying to get a reasonable quote, or a quote at all.

The popular US companies won't even bother since I'm out of the country in Grenada.

The other companies I've talked to have given me unreasonable quotes for the policy I'm trying to acquire:
  • Nagico refused to provided liability-only policy, and even with a hull value of only $15,000, my premium is nearly $1,000 for the year -- which is more than it'll cost to haul out and be on the hard.
  • Dolphin will provide a liability-only policy, but it'll cost close to $1,000 as well.
  • The Marina will provide a policy for while I'm in the yard and hauling out, but it'll cost $500, and will only cover for me -- of course -- for the time I'm there.

Does anyone have any leads on where I can get a reasonable policy? Everyone I've talked to on other boats says they're only paying a $100-200 for their liability policies. My boat is a 27' Albin Vega.

One option I've considered is just cancelling the Nagico policy once I'm out of the yard, but I'll have to read the fine print to see if they'll pay me the difference.

Re: The struggle of getting liability-only insurance

Get a standard policy, not liability only.
