Weird HIN and ABS numbers

I've been evaluating a 32-year old sailing yacht. I've come across these numbers which I cannot research. Any ideas? How are boats numbered in England or elsewhere?

HIN: SS 470
ABS: KS 6055X

That is not a HIN.
What is a HIN

Is this a US built boat and are you sure of it's age? Prior to 1972 there were no HIN's, builders could put whatever numbers on them they wanted to. No standardization. And what's an ABS? KS 6055 X looks like a Kansas registration number.
