West Marine Sto-Away Seat?

Has anybody used the West Marine version of the "Sport a seat" ? It is going on sale next week, buy one get one free, and I was just thinking of getting two. Everyone raves about the sport-a-seat, I wonder if the West marine Version is worth it at less than half the price of the original.

I have 4 of them and they have worked out well so far. I did read that they are not as good as sport a seat, but I kike mine.

West Marine

We never had the real Sport a Seat, so I have nothing to compare them with, but we bought a pair of the West Marine hinged seats at the boat show">Annapolis boat show last year. We think they are terrific. They are a good deal at two for one and well worth taking a chance on (may the grammar police forgive me for that one!).

These Seats are AWFUL!

We own 2 original Sport-A-Seats and have had them for five years. They are still in pretty good shape. We got a special discount at West and so we purchased 2 of their Sto-Away seats for only $35 each. Believe me, they are not worth $5 each. After less than two weeks the frame bent on one and the zipper and sewing went on the other. The workmanship and materials are shoddy. The zippers are the wrong kind to use for this application.

I wrote a review at West Marine online indicating this but they did not choose to publish it.

DO NOT BUY THESE! They're only $10 or so less than the original Sport-A-Seat, which you can purchase online at Sailnet, and I think Defender.

Thumbs up

I'm not sure if I have the same thing or not. We bought a pair of these from West Marine, but paid close to $100 each. They are the best thing since sliced cheese. They have the heavy duty sunbrella fabric. We use them a lot & have had heavy guests put them through the works & no problems. I like the fact that they sit alone with out propping against something. Makes great lounge chairs for the foredeck.
