Re: What boat ?

Yes the Hunter and one Jeanneau were swing keel. But yes sorry not focused on beaching boats. It’s really bad for them and not something I’d do. Small power boats and Hobbie are great at it and it damages them.
I’m a boater with power and sail. The power boat has entered antique status the sailboat is very recent which makes sense for my first sailboat. My keel is 5’ and with twin rudders apparently I can let the tide leave and beach it. Not happening.
My Donzi doesn’t belong on big water long inland lake would be better. The bottom is Epoxy white with speed wax. No chance I’d beach her fine bottom.

Re: What boat ?

A Pogo 30 will attain 14-15 knots in the right conditions. The swing keel version will meet all your requirements. But then, I would not recommend getting this boat unless you know what you are doing. It is a super fast, safe and capable racer-cruiser.

Re: What boat ?

Sounds like a pogo is 2n faster than our boat. The Pogo 50 is a sweet machine but I wouldn’t recommend either for a new boater. Or the First 36. My dads 30’ sailboat in the 50’s had a pulley to raise and lower the keel. My hull came in 3 keels including a swing. I think it’s why the seadrive is not used.
I must say I love the Vico 35S and apparently they have a 45 and 50 in the works. They are fast little boats. Very clean. I assumed they were Italian but not shocked to hear they were polish. I think Poland is second behind France in production.

Interesting boat, but I can't find much info on a Pogo 30 or any for sale, bigger Pogos are very expensive

We have a Pogo 40 in our marina and I've sailed on it some, and know the owner well. This is a very basic boat, with few accommodations for cruising. I cannot imagine a Pogo30 being much better.

It is fast however, in certain conditions, but in my judgement, it is hard to sail.

I don't think it meets the OP's criteria for more comfort.

Re: What boat ?

Don't think it'll do the speed without a tow, but ticks all the other boxes...

Well, well, well I have found a very nice boat, I had never heard of this boat before - Fastback 32 A John Gross Design Australian built in Brisbane from the 90's ??? its fits all my wants apart from headroom height in the forward part of the cockpit. 32ft by 16ft beam and 0.5metre draft with dagger board up. displacement weight 2 and half tons so pretty light. Should be pretty quick downwind..

Does anybody know much else about this boat.

Re: What boat ?

You have pretty much narrowed it down to a Dragonfly. So which model catches your eye?

Re: What boat ?

Here is just one possibility. Don't know if it has the headroom you want though.
