What would make you hang up your oil skins ?

What would make you hang up your oil skins and say “enough is enough”?

A pilothouse with all lines leading inside and with a diesel heater of course.

Re: What would make you hang up your oil skins ?

Does any one still use oil skins these days,

I had a set given to me years ago, They are disgusting, dirty, oily, smelly things,
I refuse to wear them,

I have wet weather gear, That is comfortable, easy to clean, light weight, and very warm when it gets freezing cold,

Isn't Nostrodamus referring to "giving up sailing", rather than giving up oilskins?

Re: What would make you hang up your oil skins ?

Since I got into sailing to travel, if I won the lottery and could travel in high style instead I would probably lose interest in the sailing part!

Might charter a boat here and there that is already in a nice place if the weather was good.

Re: What would make you hang up your oil skins ?

Illness / old age could be a powerful reason: when I'm not able to hoist the sails and raise the anchor, I'll probably lose interest in sailing.

Good first post! The details aren't really important.

A convenient place to hang up oil skins (or any wet gear) would certainly make me hang them up. Been trying to find that place for five years.

yeah. Wet lockers are fast becoming a thing of the past.

We hang our wet foulies in the forward shower, which is a stand-alone shower. Thank goodness we don't have to hang oilskins in there.
