Data from the Gun Violence Archive reveals there is a mass shooting – defined as four or more people shot in one incident, not including the shooter – nine out of every 10 days on average.
https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/r.../mass-shooting

* Not necessarily fatal.

I suspect "Gun Violence Archive" made up their own definition. A quick check of their most recent listing suggests one shooter, only one target, some unfortunate bystanders.

US Dept. of Justice stats would likely be more authoritative.

I looked closer into stats.

At the beginning:

The main problem with statistics like these is that there is no one definition of "mass shooting" and thus, by adjusting your parameters, can make the number be whatever you want to fit a narrative. Depending on the definition you wish to choose for a "mass shooting", the percentage for the quoted statistic can range from 2.6 every 100 days to 97.4 per every 100 days.

1,624 mass shooting incidences in 1,870 days was the number a year ago, definition of "mass shooting" very clear, as quoted above.

I completely agree that the stats could be collected much more methodically and centrally available.

That problem is 100% intentional; billions are spent by the death lobby to prevent the proper authorities from being allowed to do so.

I am very sure the official numbers are drastically lower than reality.

The purpose of the study is to emphasize the use of guns in harming people.

Would a father intent on killing his wife and kids really not do so because he has no gun?

How well is gun control working? Mike O’Reilly seems to make what I view as a correct assumption that honest people tend to follow the law. Thus gun control disarms the law abiding.

How’s it working in London?

WRT **mass** murders, which was the topic:
http://imgur.com/K2W7b0e

As stated, deaths and injuries by guns are 500+ times higher.

Few are murders. I did not think murder "in general" is the issue being discussed.

But New York has a **very** low rate for an American city.

It will vary from port to port and from country to country. A very typical response is: please unload your weapons and present them to this officer, please gather all ammunition for these weapons and give that to this other officer. The officers will take your weapons and ammunition to different holding locations. When you want to depart please bring your vessel to here 24 hours before you want to depart and wait for the weapons and ammunition to be brought to your vessel. When the last of the weapons or ammunition arrive on the boat your lines will be handed to you and you will depart immediately.

Would not having a gun stop a man intent on mass murdering his family?

No, its a Constitution not a Religion. That "segment" is something around 76% of the population. BTW there are many countries in the third world where gun ownership is not enshrined in law and if you look at pictures of the local population you will see displayed prominently some of the millions of AK-47s that have been manufactured since 1947. At least in the US, most do not carry openly.

Re: Which countries in carribean and azores, canaries are guns ok

There’s an obvious difference between a “mass murder”, and a “mass shooting” (which doesn’t require any fatalities). Since there may not be a generally accepted definition, the Gun Violence Archive provides one (4 victims). This seems, to me, a reasonable number.
I wasn’t trying to draw any conclusions about the effectiveness of gun control, in preventing violence.
I was continuing my earlier thesis, that America is NOT more “criminal” than other societies - just that American criminals may be more violent.

However, I may have, regretfully, furthered thread drift, towards "political & ideological" territory, for which I apologize.
