Re: Would your monohull survive this?

Not watched the video, and due to bandwidth, won’t.
But it would seem that every boat that I’m aware of that is designed specifically for intentionally going into weather that I hope to never see, from Lifeboats to rescue boats all seem to share a similar design.
This one for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/47-foot_Motor_Lifeboat

Now I’m not saying that other designs won’t fare very well also, but it would seem that one design is picked most often for intention use in insane weather.

Personally I believe that extreme weather survival is most often a factor of a well constructed boat, one that has very strong portlights and hatches and other means of keeping the water out, possibly more than how many hulls it has.

If the crew stays aboard, well then they likely more than anything else will contribute to how well the boat handles the storm, or not.
I know I wouldn’t do well, I don’t have the knowledge or experience to say nothing of the physical strength and stamina I did as a young man, so my plan is to avoid the situation.

But the list of boats that have survived pitch poling and roll overs etc after being abandoned by the crew is long and illustrious, this one comes to mind

The vid was a multi, not mono.

Yes, most well designed boats can survive and take more beating than the crew would care to endure.
