Yanmar Dash panel

The TYPE C dash panel to my 4JH4-HTE has lost illumination. Yanmar states that the whole panel must be replaced at a cost of $750.00 !

As this is the only fault after only 900 hours ,i'm dismayed. Has anyone solved such a problem ( besides using a flash light !! )

Re: Yanmar Dash panel

I had a similar problem with a digital auto dash. Heard it was a multi $100 fix. When I pulled the dash I saw small light bulbs, 1 was burned out. Fixed for $1.29.

Maybe you will be just as lucky.

If its not the simple fix above then look at eBay for third party replacements. I found they were quite cheaper for my model and I liked the layout better

Re: Yanmar Dash panel

If more than 1 bulb is involved in the blackout chances are it is a blown fuse. Or - if you're in a high humidity area - a corroded wire or terminal. This would not be affected by the number of hours on the engine anyway but by the moisture level in the air.

On my first boat I had the RPM gauge acting up - one day it would work, another day it would not. Took the panel out, turned out to be a corroded terminal which was not properly sealed.

Hey OP, I know this is an old thread but did you ever resolve this? I also have a couple of dark gauges on my Type-C panel, hoping I just need some new bulbs but I can't seem to identify the ones that are in there. Any leads from anyone would be great.
