Re: Your 2022 Crusing Agenda

Here on the this side of the pond First Mate and I are planning the trip cancelled this year due to Covid.

We shall leave our home port of Littlehampton, sail west to Newlyn and then cross the Irish sea to Kilmore quay in Ireland. From there a slow cruise up the coast, perhaps stopping in the centre of Dublin for a couple of days, them Howth, Arklow, Ardglass, Strangford Lough - you can spend a month in there - Bangor, Belfast, again into the town centre, Glenarm, Rathlin Island, Portrush, Colraine, back to Rathlin Island, Glenarm and then to the Isle of Man by late August to take in the Classic TT and Manx Grand Prix. Two weeks there before crossing to Milford Haven in Wales. Then across the mouth of the Bristol Channel, second highest tidal range in the world after the Bay of Fundy. We will probably stop in Padstow to wait for a tidal gate around Lands End. Tricky place, only a two hour window going that way.
Then back up the English Channel to the Solent and home to Littlehampton.

Thats the plan...........................

Re: Your 2022 Crusing Agenda

. I have been cruising my Schionning cat CHAMARAL in tropical Queensland for the winter, now I want to go home to Auckland and my Kiwi cat FERRARI but I’m currently locked out till mid Jan due to covid. So I’m right now sailing south to Sydney for Christmas & New Year with son Scott & grandkids.
Then if NZ allows me to go home, flight booked for Jan 17, I will leave CHAMARAL with son and return to my kiwi cat FERRARI for the summer cruising season around the Bay of Islands, Great Barrier Isl, Coromandel etc. April I will get Scott to take CHAMARAL back up to the Goldcoast, Queensland for me to fly over for another winter cruising tropical north Qld. I stopped doing cold winters years ago!

Re: Your 2022 Crusing Agenda

My agenda is relatively less ambitious.
I am looking forward to cruising around the US Northeast coast.

Cruising is cruising! Some beautiful country around there which I hope to see someday. There really ought to be a boat share program so some of us could cruise both coasts...

I like the idea of a boat exchange, or a BRBO (Boat Rental By Owner) program.
I am with you!

For you or the boat, (or both)?

Re: Your 2022 Crusing Agenda

Planning another milk run to Oahu this time and then back to San Francisco over July and August. Promised my race partner (who doesn't like to be out of sight of land) that we'd do more racing this year on San Francisco Bay so my plans for 2022 are mostly inshore and a few offshore forays. I keep toying with the idea to shed the dock lines completely this year. Gotta see how things work out with my clients and if I finally sell my home in Florida to put some money in the kitty.

Going to see how much of Lake Ontario and the Thousand Islands we can cover this summer. Life commitments and budget are looking like we probably won't be trying for any long distance trips this year.

Re: Your 2022 Crusing Agenda

As soon as two younger ones are back into their respective colleges, I will try once again to start semi-cruising around the FL keys and virtually run my small company from the boat limiting my air travel to a week a month.
If this is successful then head over to Bahamas and do the same till hurricane season push me back to Miami.
Is not too inspirational but is a small step until I retire in 18 months.

Re: Your 2022 Crusing Agenda

Woo Hoo, we actually have cruising plans for this summer; very modest plans, but plans nonetheless. Years of dreaming are about to become a reality. We'll start with Long Island Sound, Martha's Vineyard, Buzzard's Bay, and a few laps of Cape Cod Bay. Then in the fall it is down to the Chesapeake.

Re: Your 2022 Crusing Agenda

We began our liveaboard lives and started cruising last year in New Zealand. We’ll start 2022 in Tasmania, then up the east coast and over the top to Darwin and beyond, finishing up the year in Indonesia.

Re: Your 2022 Crusing Agenda

we expect to back on board Capri April 1, spend a month getting her ready then go north to Alaska, spend the summer there, then south to Sea of Cortez. After that "we have no plan and boy golly, we're gonna stick to it!"

maybe back out across the pacific or perhaps back through the Panama canal

Our books have gotten 5 star reviews on Amazon. Several readers have written "I never thought I would go on a circumnavigation, but when I read these books, I was right there in the cockpit with Vinni and Carsten"

Smile Re: Your 2022 Crusing Agenda

Possibly to cruise areas of the US Pacific coastline as described in George Benson’s 2005 book, Cruising the Northwest Coast (From the Golden Gate to Port Angeles), at least between Long Beach and Eureka, CA, but including the northern California Channel Islands. Have explored the CA coast and islands to as far north as Morro Bay, CA. It’s all very invigorating. Will require upgrading of the yacht’s navigation instrumentation for close-in work along a rocky coastline.
